Reverse the Curse a Cry For Recognition

The Curse of the Bambino

The title of this blog post for a boston native holds a lot of meaning…Reverse the Curse, for Boston baseball fans, was the words that fueled our teams drive year after year to finally win another championship…it comes from “The Curse of the Bambino”, a local superstition about the failure of the Red Sox winning the World Series for over 7 decades…

The photo above is a picture of the legendary baseball player, Babe Ruth, also known as The Bambino…Boston sold him to our arch enemy the New York Yankees in 1918…up until that point we were a very successful franchise winning 5 titles in Major League Baseball…but after selling Babe Ruth, Boston went on a title drought for 86 years…

Yes that’s right 86 years! wow…The drought finally ended in 2004 when we beat the Yankees in historic fashion for the ALCS (American League Championship Series)…we were down 3-0 and came back to win the series 4-3…and of course the rest is history, the Boston Red Sox went on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series thus Reversing the Curse of the Bambino!

I had to give you a little sports talk so you could get the background of how this has anything to do with music lol…All is well with Red Sox nation we finally broke that damn curse and even won 2 more rings since then….how does this relate to music? I’ll explain…In 2005 I released my first street album & called it Reverse the Curse Volume 1…I felt the music scene in Boston was synonymous with our baseball team…

Boston definitely has had our share of superstar talent…from the historic group New Edition to New Kids On the Block, to rappers like Guru from Gangstarr, Ed OG, Ray Benzino and Marky Mark of the Funky Bunch to name a few…don’t even dare try to clown any of them names either, they all sold records on a worldwide level especially in the states…What they each were able to accomplish was great and still is…

When I released my first project in 2005 it felt like an eternity since Boston was talked about on the same level those artists I just mentioned once had us on in music…hip hop music more specifically…Reverse the Curse was my cry for my musical talents to be recognized coming from the city of Boston…Atlanta, New York, Miami, Los Angeles etc., all had & continue to produce household names in the music industry…we have yet to get back to that…

My long journey began with Reverse the Curse and still continues…all praises go to him…I released Reverse the Curse Volume 2 Elevatormusic in 2011 & my first EP Lost For Words is now available…I hope people hear the growth in me because there has been plenty…wow…12 years ago since my first cd…again all praises go to him…I feel like I’m just getting started…

What once started as a mission to reverse the curse of the city turned into me reversing my own curse…I’m back to making music that comes from my heart…being genuine will forever be the most relatable form of communication…when asked about the curse former player of the Red Sox, Johnny Damon, said “We didn’t care about what happened 86 years ago…we cared about each other”…I feel you Johnny…that’s how I’m feeling…

On that note I want to shout out every single person that I’ve ever connected with in person or online that has told me anything remotely positive or negative about my artistry…I salute you! The Red Sox did the “impossible” as a TEAM…I’m NOTHING without you and EVERYTHING with YOU…your encouragement has always helped me to silence the critical noise and stick to the process…its because of you I released my new album “Lost For Words” and why my new project “Common Scents” is on its way! THANK YOU
